behavior would be expected, mainly waiting politely for our turn.
The children loved the ball pit, but I had to send a worker in after our son, the birthday boy, because he didn’t want to come out. Next, we rode the train, and he was delighted with the sound of the train whistle. Then we went to the spinning cups ride. The pupils in Chris’s eyes grew large, and he started hopping up and down. When the ride slowed and came to a stop, Chris barged through the line to be first. I tugged on his sleeve and told him we had to wait our turn, which would be at least one more turn. Suddenly, he threw himself on the ground and began to scream and cry. He kicked his legs so wildly that no one could even get around him to get on the ride. I tried to reason with him and get him up, but he was too wild to pick up. Finally, another parent helped me get him off the floor. I was angry and embarrassed. Here I had tried to do something fun and wonderful for him, and he had behaved like the biggest brat ever! What ingratitude! When I calmed down and thought about it, I realized just how wonderful, colorful, stimulating, and fun it was for him. He had never seen anything like it in his whole life. Of course, he was too excited to wait his turn. After a few minutes of calmness at the picnic table, we tried it again. This time we waited our turn. Afterwards Chris said it was “way fun!”
What would it be like if we had to wait in line to approach and be heard by God the Father? Have you ever thought about how many people around the world need the Father’s attention at any given moment? How would we behave if we needed His immediate attention and were at the back of the line? Aren’t you glad that Jehovah God is omnipresent and is with each of us at the same time? The Bible teaches that God fills the universe and is present everywhere at once, and it’s not just a part, but the whole of God that is in every place, observing and understanding all. Our God is beyond our understanding and too wonderful to comprehend. Sometimes I just have to pause and think about our awesome God and His incomprehensible love for us. He, above all, is worthy of our gratitude and praise.
