Today we hear people talk about paying it forward. There was even a movie by that name, but the concept Is not new. In the early 1900s, a Methodist preacher and songwriter wrote a song about the same concept called "Pass It On." The song was based on an incident in his brother-in-law’s life. When the brother-in-law was a young boy, he had to travel alone by ship to another country. The captain of the ship was very kind to the young boy, encouraging him and making sure he was comfortable. When asked why he was taking such an interest in this little passenger, the captain said that, years before, the boy's father had helped his mother in a time of need, and he was only "passing along the kindness." Isn't it interesting how the one kindness resulted in the captain's kindness which resulted in a song which was song by thousands of people a hundred years ago which resulted in a post on this blog and on Facebook? It just shows that you never know the extent of what a small kindness can do.
Hi! My name is Vickie Lutz. I am a retired teacher living in north Texas. Last year, I embarked on a new adventure and wrote 2 books about note taking methods that I learned as a teacher. The books explain how to use these note-taking methods to record what you learned about God and heard from God during sermons or Bible lessons. This year I am continuing my new adventure with a blog!
